Barbecue Stain - Reminder Of Sweet Memories

Filed under: Home Improvement by admin

Grilling out during the summer season is fun. But a stain in the fabric will take away all the fun. It cannot be avoided because the foods that are loved most are liable to cause stain. There are often many ingredients in barbecue sauces that stain fabrics and carpeting. Do not worry that the favorite shirt or carpet is spoiled.

Be quick to clean them up because waiting for a long time with the Barbecue Stain will make it harder to remove. Speed is the key to quick removal of stain from any material. That does not mean it cannot be removed otherwise, but the chances for removal will be better when acted quickly. When it is not done immediately, keeping the stained article wet will prevent the stain from setting into the fibers.

Immediate response after staining the fabric would be to remove the excess sauce from it. When the stain is still wet, gently blot it with a clean paper towel. If the stain is dry, remove the excess sauce as much as possible with the dull edge of a butter knife or a brush or a comb. Run cold water under high pressure on the back side of the stained area.

This will force the stain to come out. Pour some liquid detergent on the stained area, fold the stained area on itself, and gently rub the fabric together. This will loosen the sauce from the fabric. Allow the detergent to sit for few minutes, repeat and then rinse. If the stain has faded, continue to repeat the same procedure until the stain is gone, and then wash the garment normally. Do not dry the fabric in the dryer.

Specialized stain removing products can also be used. They come in small bottles with applicator brushes, pads, sprays and nozzles. Read the instructions carefully and make sure it does not harm the fabric. After using the product, launder it normally.

If the fabric is white and bleach-safe, washing machine can be used to remove the Barbecue Stains. Set the washing machine to the lowest load setting, add a product containing bleach, fill the machine with water and then stop it. Soak the fabric in the washing machine for several hours, if possible, all day and then run the machine through the wash cycle. Instead of using a bleach product, hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar, or lemon juice can also be used as a bleaching agent.

If the stain still persists, sprinkle some baking soda on the spill and then some white vinegar. Baking soda will cause the vinegar to fizz and push the stain up to the surface. Now blot it out with a clean paper towel or use a wet-vacuum cleaner.

If removing stain from the carpets is difficult, rent a carpet shampooer from the local home improvement store or call a professional carpet cleaner to finish the battle. Sometimes, it may prove to be a bit difficult to remove the Barbecue Stain from the clothing or carpet completely because some of the ingredients in the barbecue sauce may cause it to be permanent.
